iMovie assignment
This assignment was fun , but very frustrating at times. Technology is such a great asset, but it can be very frustrating when it doesn't work like it is suppose to. Technology always seems to have its frustrations and maybe it is just because I am still learning so much. I did like the creativity of making a movie and using technology to edit it and make it look even better. However, having fourth or even fifth graders make their own movie seems way above their level of patience and abilities. I could be wrong about that, there probably are kids that age who could do it, but the learning curve and frustrations would probably outweigh the concepts they learned. Having said all of that, I do think that it might be a good idea to work as a class to make a movie. First I would have the students help me come up with ideas that went along with the subject. Then I would place them in groups and give each group an assignment. After they were done with their assignments, I would let them help with the filming. Then I would do the editing it myself (I hope I could do it). Seriously, I think it could be a fun project that would help the students to work together in creating something they could all be proud of.

I agree, using technology can be very frustrating and it could be very difficult for elementary aged students.
I liked your idea of making a movie as an entire class.
I also like your idea of making a movie as a whole class. I think having two or three groups working on different movies would work good too. Sometimes when doing things as a whole class not everyone gets the opportunity to participate as much as they want to.
I really like the idea of creating a movie as a class, or perhaps even in groups of 3-5 would help relieve some of the stress! And I totally know what you mean when you say technology can be an asset when it works correctly!
I too was frustrated with the technology periodically throughout the project. I agree that it could be a lot of fun and that some kids could do it, but it likely wouldn't be worth the frustration.
I liked your idea of divinding a class into groups and giving them ownership of a part of a movie. I think it would make the learning more meaningful.
